Krubera Cave - also known as Voronya Cave- held the record as the World's Deepest Cave for many years. Krubera Cave is the first in the world to be explored to more than 2 Kilometers in depth. Krubera's sole entrance is in a trough valley on the Arabika Massif in the West Caucasus Mountains of the Republic of Georgia. While current total depth is 2.2 kilometers, nearby Veryovkina Cave has since surpassed it as the world's deepest.
