Once seriously endangered, the gray bat (Myotis grisescens) is back from the brink of extinction due to efforts of The Nature Conservancy. 10 years ago we feared that this species of micro bat would go extinct due to habitat loss and the effects of white nose syndrome. Happily, gray bats are thriving in the Southern United States with populations increasing even as other bat species decline.
